May 2, 2025: Work with Conditionally Displayed Fields

In response to customer feedback, we have delivered several improvements in this release:

  • Activity lists show updated organization names. Before, when users changed an organization’s name, activity lists would still show the organization’s original name. Now, all activity lists are updated to show the current organization name.
  • On organization records, conditionally displayed address fields stay visible in edit mode. Before, users reported that these fields would disappear when they switched to edit mode. We have changed the code to re-evaluate any conditional display settings when you change to edit mode so that all of the fields will continue to be displayed.
  • On activity records, the cc Users field can now work in a conditional display. Before, configuring a case layout’s cc Users field as a conditional display would interfere with its multiselect function and the autopopulation of the Date and Assigned To fields. We changed the code so that the conditional display setting no longer interferes with the way these fields function.

April 10, 2025: View and Manage hc1 Test Utilization Guidelines

In response to user feedback, we have created a new hc1 Test Utilization Guidelines tab that is easier to use.

Test Utilization View Guidelines tab
  • The new View Guidelines tab consolidates all guideline information in one place. Before, this information was spread across three tabs.
  • Guideline parameters are organized into collapsed groups with fixed headings so that you know where you are and don’t have to scroll as much. Click the arrow in the heading to expand that group and see its parameters.
  • The Upload CSV feature now includes a downloadable guidelines specification template with all the necessary column headings.
  • Editing options are easily accessible. Check the guideline you want to edit, click Edit at the center top of the tab, and the Edit Guideline window slides out from the right for you to make and save your changes.

The new Add Guidelines tab simplifies the process of adding new guidelines. You first select the guideline type on the left side of the tab, and the available options for that type are then displayed on the right. Required fields are clearly marked and checked for entries before a guideline is added.

Test Utilization Add Guidelines tab

We also made these improvements:

  • The new Audit Log tab shows who made changes to the guidelines and when those changes were made.
  • We added a new guideline type for genetic testing. It uses the same logic as the Repetitive type.
  • The Disabled status clarifies that a rule still exists in the database and will show up in dashboards, but it is no longer running for current data. Before, this status was confusingly named “Active.”

April 4, 2025: Remove Procedures and Tests from Panels

This release improves the Panels page:

  • You must be in edit mode to remove procedures or tests from a panel. Before, a clickable minus icon was displayed next to procedures and tests on panels in view mode, but clicking it just changed the display without changing the record. We have eliminated the minus icons from view mode to prevent any further misunderstanding. To remove a procedure or test from a panel, open the panel in edit mode, click the minus icon next to the procedure or test, and save the panel.

April 2, 2025: Filter Faster with the New hc1 ProviderView

In response to user feedback, we have redesigned hc1 ProviderView to be easier to use.

hc1 ProviderView Providers dashboard

The renamed Providers and Facilities dashboards include these changes:

  • All filters are displayed in one sidebar. Before, there were filters in each section, and you had to open up multiple lists to make your choices. Now, you can enter your filter choices in one place, and the filter will be applied to all reports on the dashboard.
  • Specialty and Drug filters have type-ahead search and drop-down selections. You no longer have to know the exact specialty, subspecialty, or generic drug name to fill in these filter values.
  • Geography filter options are combined into one control. Before, you had to enter values for or choose from picklists for separate City, State, County, and Zip code filters. Now you have one place to start typing information, and search results for all geographic categories will appear for you to choose from.
  • Saved filters work the same way as they do in other hc1 dashboards. Use the Saved Filter Options menu to save, manage, and apply sets of filter values to the dashboard.
  • Top 5 reports have been expanded to Top 10 reports. Now, you get a broader view of the top provider specialties, billing codes by patients, billing codes by payment, specialties by payment, and facility specialties and subspecialties.
  • Medical Claim Analysis and Prescription Analysis reports are always visible on the Providers dashboard. We removed the extra toggle control to view this information so that the information would be readily available.

The lists have changed, too.

hc1 ProviderView Providers list
  • Filter choices are displayed the same way on the dashboard and list pages. You no longer have to click an extra button to see what values are applied to the list.
  • You can change the column display right from the list. No need to open a separate Edit Columns window like before.

March 12, 2025: View Lab Order Detail Comments

In response to user feedback, we fixed an issue related to the lab order detail page:

  • Panel comments for an order number only appear once per timestamp. Before, lab order comments would sometimes be displayed multiple times, even though they were only in the database once. We resolved the code relationship that was causing the duplicated display.

Note: If an order has been resent and has multiple timestamps, the comments for that order may still be shown multiple times.

February 24, 2025: View the Latest CMS Data

This hc1 ProviderView release updates data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):

  • On the Individuals dashboard, the Public Medical Claims and Public Rx Claims sections now include information from 2022. The source for this data is the latest available public Medicare Part D Prescriber data, which CMS updates annually.

February 17, 2025: Create Cases as a Collaboration User

In response to user feedback, we fixed an issue related to creating cases:

  • Collaboration users can create cases again. Before, collaboration users received the “Organization cannot be empty, or related item is associated with more than one organization” error message when they tried to save a new case. Unlike the standard hc1 user type, which uses a node-based model, collaboration users are configured based on a direct-access model, which limits their access to 10 or fewer organizations. A recent code change we made to improve performance did not account for the direct-access model. We added a check for this kind of organization access, so all users can now create cases as expected.

January 30, 2025: Merge Organization Records

In response to user feedback, we fixed an issue related to merging organizations:

  • You can merge organizations without delays. System administrators reported seeing the spinning “in process” icon run for up to 30 minutes or receiving the “Network connectivity has been lost” error message when they merged organizations, even though the process would complete successfully. We streamlined the code so that the merge process completes faster.

This release fixed an issue related to workflow templates:

  • Workflow template options appear as expected in the Layout Designer’s Create Activity component settings. Case workflow templates were not appearing in the list because case had been renamed to issue via a lens profile, and the list did not handle lens changes to activities properly. We changed the code, and now the list populates correctly no matter what you call your cases, tasks, or memos.

In response to user feedback, hc1 has changed global search to improve consistency and accuracy in search results for names, addresses, and phone numbers:

  • Search finds names with special characters such as apostrophes, hyphens, and periods regardless of whether the user enters those characters. For example, a search on “Sean Obrien” will now find Dr. Sean T. O’Brien.
  • Phone number searches now work with a variety of phone number formats. You will get the same search results whether you include hyphens, parentheses, periods, extensions, or just the numbers.
  • You no longer have to enter the entire street name in the search box to find an organization by address. For example, entering “123 Fi” will return organizations at 123 First St. and 123 Firewood Lane.
  • Extra spaces are now ignored when searching for matches in name, address, and phone number fields. So a search for “Memorial Health” will find “ Memorial Health.”

December 10, 2024: Apply Saved Dashboard Filters

This release delivers a fix to the saved filters feature for clients who are on the current hc1 analytics platform:

  • When you apply a saved filter to a dashboard, dashboard data is displayed as expected. Clients reported getting zero results when they applied certain saved filters, even though they got results when they manually chose the same filter values that were in the saved filter. The root cause was the semicolon used to separate values within the saved filter. We resolved this issue in our analytics platform code, and saved filters now return data appropriately.
